Matt Garroich never fails to make himself look foolish.
Martarano at 14 is nonsense.Meadows at 17 is even worst.
I’m not the biggest fan of Stephen Gonsalves but in the 40s?
I’m really struggling to understand how someone actually gave this guy a job. It’s truely that bad.
Matt is a super nice guy, Kevin. I understand questioning some of his choices, but there’s no reason to get personal; it’s sort of boring when everyone just hews to the consensus.
And the work he does is a labor of love, not a job. I doubt he gets paid much of anything.
How’d I get personal?
What because I said I don’t understand how someone gave this guy the opportunity to provide mis-information to the masses.
I don’t think that’s personal at all.I’m not insulting him or attacking something irrelevant to prospects.
For me I just think someone on a site as well read as minorleagueball should be doing a better job then he does.
If you’ve read any of my comments on this site then you know I’m all for going against the grain. At the same time I don’t do it for the sake of standing out.I do it because there’s a logical and founded reason for making that judgement.
Also,
If anything your making it personal. How is his being a super nice guy relevant to his competency pertaining to prospects. And I agree Matt does seem like a nice guy he takes the time to at least defend his opinions and for that I respect him a ton more then most prospect gurus. That being said I still think he’s out of his league when it comes to this stuff.
I don’t see the point in questioning how much he gets paid.It has nothing to do with how much he’s paid if it’s a hobby or a technical job with actual income.Someone allowed him to come on a pretty well read site and pass on such poor information. So I’m Struggling to understand how someone actually gave him the ability to do that.
If calling it a job is too much for you fine.Either way it’s the same idea.
The thing with rankings is that no two people who look at a group of players are going to rank them exactly the same if they do so independently. I don’t agree with where he has some players, but you have to respect him for going his own way when he knows everyone will say he is wrong with Meadows and for standing up and giving reasons for doing so. It deserves alot of respect really, it would be much easier for him to just say screw it and put Meadows in the top 10 so that people will agree and say good job.
There is a real possibility that in two or three years, Garrioch could stand up and say I told you so, but he is probably too good a guy to do that even if he could.
Of course there is.
And I’m not that good of a guy. When the time comes I’ll be sure to mention it in every comment I ever leave on anything of his.
“Hey Matt,
Great Article about the 2017 Draft.I’m Really liking Player X as well.By the way remember when you were so wrong about Austin Meadows..Told ya so”
I did mention above that I respect him for standing up for what he’s said and not backtracking like some of have done. That being said as I also said above there’s a certain limit to it before your just reaching to make a point.
Kevin, your mentioning it is what made me go look at the comments.
In 2017, I hope you are right about Meadows, I would love to see him reach his ceiling.
I hope I’m right as well.
I have a ton of faith in it if that goes for anything. In fact I’ve never been as all in on any single prospect more then I am on Meadows and Frazier.
I am not all in on Meadows. I can see the hole in his swing but it is fix able and if he does the sky the the limit.
I think we discussed this awhile back.
Maybe I’m being a bit over optimistic but I honestly don’t see that not being fixed down the road.Obviously as a HS kid he’s not going to be a finished product. But I think that’s no diffrent then most HS products coming out of the draft.Obviously there are some who are ahead of the curve but I don’t think that’s a regular thing to be expected.Take Bubba Starling for instance in a incredibly strong Draft he went very very high. Not comparing the 2 talent wise but I think picking in the top10 almost obligates you to take a bit of risk in order to hit the jackpot.
Kevin, there is an Austin Meadows scouting report coming from Kevin Gallo, very soon.
