I apologize for the lack of posts this week, but there are times when getting to the computer are difficult. This is one of those weeks. Here are some 2013 MLB Draft related links and some notes from the Breakthrough Series.
- Trey Williams has opted to play at JC of the Canyons this upcoming season in order to be eligible for the 2013 draft. -LINK
- Perfect Game has a post on outfielder Nicholas Banks. -LINK
- This is from a few days ago, but ESPNHS has a post on who impressed at the A’s and Brewers Area Code tryouts, including notes on Jonah Wesley and Stephen Gonsalves. -LINK
Here are some lines from the Breakthrough Series.
Tuesday
- Roosevelt Bates went 2-4 with a double
- Juan Escarra went 3-5
- Bryson Brigman went 2-3
- Ro Coleman went 1-3 with 3 steals
- Justus Sheffield struck out 4 in 2 shutout innings, walking one and allowing one hit
- Tyler Johnson went 2-2 with 2 steals
- Juan Hillman pitched 3 shutout innings, striking out 4 and allowing 2 hits
Wednesday
- Harry Thomas pitched 4 shutout innings, giving up 2 hits and a walk while striking out 5
- Akeem Bostick went 3-5
- Bryson Brigman went 3-4 with a stolen base

Pretty surprising about Trey, but it sort of makes sense considering the current consensus about the 2013 draft crop.
Gotta pimp: Steve Fiorendo posted some Gonsalves video from ACG at the new look Bullpen Banter. My impression of Tyler Skaggs redux is only reinforced.
I think it’s a pretty good choice for Williams to take a year to build himself back up and see where he lands.
I like the new look at Bullpen Banter, by the way.
